Caine confident heading for Donington Park

Having come so close to his first victory of the season last time out at Oulton Park, Michael Caine is even more determined to win as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB moves to Donington Park in Leicestershire over the weekend of 14/15 July.

Caine, from Newmarket, is racing for Sussex-based Paragon Porsche this season and currently lies fourth in the overall championship standings in his 400bhp Porsche 911GT3 Cup car, which is prepared by Team Parker Racing.

Now comes one of his favourite tracks on the schedule, as rounds 11 and 12 of the championship move to the excellent Donington Park venue in the East Midlands, the home circuit for Team Parker Racing.  Having led round ten at Oulton Park until the penultimate lap, Caine is confident of carrying that front-running pace forward to Donington. It is clear that his first Carrera Cup victory in certainly within reach.  "Donington is a great circuit for these cars, it's fast and flowing and it's been a pretty good track for me over the years," says Caine. "I put it on the front row of the grid there last year," he added.

After qualifying on Saturday morning, the opening Carrera Cup race will run at 4.55pm, followed by the second race at 4.50pm on Sunday.

All of Sunday's action will be broadcast live on the Setanta satellite TV channel and Carrera Cup highlights will be shown on ITV1 in the near future (times to be confirmed).
