Paragon Porsche set for Carrera Cup opener
Andy Purdie, one of the youngest drivers in the championship, will make his debut in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB over the weekend of 8/9 April.
The Maidstone-based student will race the Paragon Porsche-entered 911GT3 Cup car in the opening two rounds of the championship at his home track of Brands Hatch. Other support for the project comes from Revo and Porsche & 911 World.
The Paragon team is entering a brand new 997-model 911GT3 Cup car in the prestigious championship for Purdie. At 21-years old, Andy is one of the rising stars of the championship, but he knows that he faces a steep learning curve as he takes on some very experienced rivals.
The field includes former Carrera Cup champions Richard Westbrook and Damien Faulkner along with former touring car champion Tim Harvey and former TVR Tuscan champions Michael Caine and Phil Hindley. However, Purdie demonstrated great natural talent in his debut season of racing last year and is aiming to gather experience and acclimatise to the 400bhp Porsche over the coming weeks.
The Paragon car will be testing again at Brands on Friday (7 April) before the opening races, with one race on Saturday and one on Sunday as the Carrera Cup GB supports the opening rounds of the British Touring Car Championship.
Sunday's race is scheduled for live TV coverage on the Motors TV channel.
