Caine and Paragon head for Oulton Park

One of the most challenging tracks in Britain is the next stop for Michael Caine as the 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup GB heads to Oulton Park in Cheshire over the weekend of 23/24 June for the ninth and tenth rounds of the championship.

Caine, from Newmarket, is racing for Sussex-based Paragon Porsche this season and currently lies fourth in the overall championship standings in his 400bhp Porsche 911GT3 Cup car, which is prepared by Team Parker Racing.  "Racing at Oulton has always been awesome," says Caine. "I was the first person to do a 100mph sports car lap there and I love the place. I've always gone well there."

Caine says that Oulton Park is one of the most demanding tracks on the Carrera Cup schedule. "It's very technical and very fast. You have to be very committed to be fast there and the art in setting good lap times is not to look at the surroundings.

You just have to focus on the track."  After qualifying on Saturday morning, the opening Carrera Cup race will run at 5.45pm, followed by the second race at 4.05pm on Sunday. All of Sunday's action will be broadcast live on the Setanta satellite TV channel and Carrera Cup highlights will be shown on ITV1 in the near future (times to be confirmed).
