Caine and Paragon head for Rockingham

Michael Caine will continue his bid for the 2007 Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Rockingham this weekend (21/22 April) in the third and fourth rounds of the championship.

Caine is racing for Sussex-based Paragon Porsche this season and scored podium finishes in both of the opening two races of the season at Brands Hatch recently. Now, already lying joint second in the points, he is determined to head early championship leader Tim Harvey at the spectacular Corby venue.

Caine, from Newmarket, is competing for Team Parker Racing and says that the switch to Rockingham could throw the Carrera Cup wide open. "It’s very tight and twisty on the infield at Rockingham and it offers something very different," says Caine.  Allied to the twisty infield section is a flat-out section through the banked corner in front of the main grandstands. "It's a real challenge for the teams," says Caine of a circuit he last raced at in 2001. "No one in the Carrera Cup has really been to Rockingham, so it should be very open. It's going to be a great spectacle for the fans."

After qualifying on Saturday morning, the opening Carrera Cup race will run on Saturday afternoon, followed by another race at 2.15pm on Sunday.

All of Sunday's action will be broadcast live on the Setanta satellite TV channel and Carrera Cup highlights will be shown on ITV1 in the near future (times to be confirmed).
