2006 Race Reports

Porsche Racing

Hectic 2006 Racing schedule for the Paragon Race Team.

Mark Sumpter realised the ambition of a lifetime to race Paragon's newly acquired ex Team Schuppan Porsche 962 in selective rounds of the Group C GTP race series. This car was a new challenge for experienced Porsche racer Mark. He had never driven a racing car with such massive amounts of downforce. Mark finished the season with three podium positions out of only four races.

Mark Sumpter and Adrian Slater joined forces to race our Porsche 911 GT3RS in two rounds of the Britcar Series clinching two wins at Brands Hatch and a well deserved Second at Silverstone.

Newcomer 19 Year old Nicki Purdie had her Michelin Porsche Club Championship debut in her Paragon prepared 911 3.2 race car. Coming from a family of Porsche enthusiasts and racers Nicki raced the car that her brother competed in his first championship last  year.

With two 30 minute races at the Brands Hatch Circuit Nicki had mixed fortunes. After a great qualifing session the weather changed dramatically for the first race, a very wet track and poor visability caused Nicki to out brake herself leaving her stranded in the gravel at Paddock.

For the second race Nicki started from the back of the grid. With some fantastic driving she made great progress and after overtaking last years champion found herself  focusing on defending her track position.  Unfortunately during her defensive driving she was hit from behind and spun and with the damage obtained was unable to complete the race.

In Paragon's brand new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car Andy purdie was to compete in the prestigious British Porsche Carrera Cup. This was a huge step up for the 21 year old Kent racer after competing in the Paragon prepared 911 3.2 Carrera last year.

Missing two rounds due to university exams Andy still finished 2nd overall in the Pro-Am class, obtaining 7 class wins out of 12 races, a fantastic result for the young racer's first season in highly competitive racing.
