2007 Race Reports

Porsche Racing

Group C, Porsche Carrera Cup and the most demanding race in Britain.

2007 was to be a successful year for the Paragon racing team. This was to be the first full season in our newly acquired ex Joest Porsche 962 in the Group C GTP Series. This car was one of the most famous cars of its type and was the last Porsche to win a round of the World Sportscar Championship in the Group C era.

This car proved to be very competitive with Mark Sumpter finishing on the podium in five out of the six rounds in the series, racing at iconic European circuits including the prestigeous Le Mans.

Michael Caine contested the Paragon supported GT3 in the British Porsche Carrera Cup. With last years experience of Porsche Cup racing Michael had numerous podium finishes and ended his successful season fourth in the championship.

One of the main highlights of 2007 was the class win in the Silverstone Britcar 24 hour race. The Paragon team of drivers Mark Sumpter, Adrian slater, Andy Purdie and motoring journalist Chris Harris all gave superb performances throughout the 24 hour race. The car ran with incredible reliability and it was a testament to the way the car was superbly prepared by the Paragon race technicians before and during the race.

Apart from routine fuel and tyre stops the only thing that required replacing after 12 hours was front brake pads and rear pads at 18 a truly great example of the cars fantastic enginering.
