Donington next for Purdie

Andy Purdie will race for third time in three weekends for Paragon Porsche in rounds 11 and 12 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at the Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire over the weekend (29/30 July).

The Maidstone-based driver is racing the Paragon Porsche-entered 911GT3 Cup in the high-profile championship that runs as a major support race to the British Touring Car Championship and will now challenge for more podium results at the famous East Midlands track.

Although he missed four races in the spring while concentrating on his university finals, Andy is now one of the pacesetters in the pro-am category within the championship. He won the category at Thruxton in June and has become a regular podium finisher in the very competitive category. He now lies sixth in the pro-am points and is aiming to move further up the order as the season progresses.

Having raced in the Carrera Cup at Croft over the weekend of 15/16 July, last weekend Andy was in action at Brands Hatch in the annual Bill Taylor Memorial Trophy Race. He shared the car with Paragon boss Mark Sumpter in the two-driver race and they dominated the hour-long race, winning by over a lap.

Now, Andy and the team will switch to Donington to continue their Carrera Cup campaign. "I'm getting used to finishing on the podium," says Andy. "That's where I'm aiming to be every time out now," he says.
