Challenging weekend for Paragon at Thruxton

The Paragon Porsche-backed Team Eurotech race squad came away with a top six finish after rounds six and seven of the British GT Championship at Thruxton over the weekend (28/29 May).

In the team's lead car, Mike Jordan and Michael Caine suffered an engine problem in the first race, but finished sixth in the second race in their Porsche 911GT3RSR.  Meanwhile, the similar car of David and Godfrey Jones claimed a seventh place in the opening race and the 911 GT3 of Steve Wood and Nick Adcock netted a top 10 finish in the GT3 category. 

Adcock was deputising for regular racer Stuart Scott, who missed the races due to business commitments.  A rare engine failure put Jordan/Caine out of the opening race and left the team to install the spare engine overnight in time for Sunday's race. However, the spare engine was not to the same high specification as the race engine and so Jordan and Caine knew that they faced a tough prospect in the second race at the high-speed Hampshire track.  

In addition, Thruxton was always going to be the track where the Porsches were at a disadvantage to the Ferraris. Undeterred, Jordan/Caine raced hard for 60 minutes and clinched sixth place at the flag to grab some championship points.  "Frankly, that was all that could really expect at Thruxton," said Jordan. "It was always going to be tough round here for the Porsches!" Meanwhile, Godfrey Jones was forced out of the race when a clash with another car broke a wheel.  

Now, Team Eurotech will turn its attention to the next races at Castle Combe on 25/26 June during the John Guest Speedfit Racing Festival.
