Paragon Porsche returns to Carrera Cup

Andy Purdie will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for rounds seven and eight of the championship at the Thruxton circuit over the weekend of 3/4 June.

The Maidstone-based driver will race the Paragon Porsche-entered 911GT3 Cup car in two rounds of the championship after missing the last two race weekends while completing his university final exams.

Other support for the project comes from Revo and Porsche & 911 World.  In 2006, the Paragon team is entering a brand new 997-model 911GT3 Cup car in the prestigious championship for Purdie.

At 21-years old, Andy is one of the rising stars of the championship, and he will now resume his season after missing four races. However, his pace and results in the opening two races of the year at Brands Hatch in April point to the fact that he is adapting quickly to his new challenge.

The Thruxton circuit near Andover in Hampshire is the fastest track in Britain and the Porsches will be averaging more than 110mph if conditions are good. Although Andy has not yet driven the 911GT3 Cup car at Thruxton, he does at least know the track from racing there in 2005 and he is eager to get his season running again after his enforced break.

The Paragon car will be testing at Thruxton on Friday (2 June), with one race on Saturday and one on Sunday as the Carrera Cup GB supports the British Touring Car Championship.  Sunday's race is scheduled for live TV coverage on the Motors TV channel.
