Challenging debut race weekend for Nicki Purdie
Paragon's new racing driver 19 year old Nicki Purdie had mixed fortunes at her debut race meeting at Brands Hatch when after qualifying 16th for the first of the two thirty minute races conditions changed just before the race.
Nicki had to start her first ever race on a very wet track, despite the poor conditions Nicki made up three places on the first few laps and looked set to take a solid top ten finish when she was caught out braking into paddock corner and spun into the gravel trap!
“Visibility was awful and I misjudged my braking point” said a frustrated Nicki after the race.
For race two Nicki had to start from the back of the grid (as she hadn’t finished the first race) and again she had soon made great progress, but after overtaking last years champion Tom Segrue, Nicki found her skill had to be focused on defending rather than attacking “I was working hard to stay in front of Tom and I think after a few laps he became frustrated, so he spun me out!” said a philosophical Nicki “I enjoyed the weekend but did want to finish the races”
So with some repairs to the car Nicki will be out for the next race at Silverstone.
